More Anne

1 min read
So I decided to get off my lazy ass and post the rest and last of the images I got from :iconnb6636-1: before he moved on to other things.  Actually there was a few more images but that about covers most of what I had, and should give you some impressions of what I had planned for her.  I hope one day to pick this up again, as I had a lot of fun doing this.

Well I guess I've put this off long enough, time for me to pull myself away from Fallout 4 and explain whats going on.

Got some bad news I'm afraid.  Awhile ago :iconnb6636-1: informed me that he was moving away from doing 3d renders and going into making video games.  So yeah among other things this means no more Fiat Femina images from him.  I was hoping to get a few final shots with added text from him before he closed up shop.  But those didn't materialize.   So yeah that's the bad news

The good news is that I do have some raw images that I will post here periodically.  And I have the script pretty much finished for the first chapter with a few tweaks possibly needed here and there.  In fact I wrote a bit of the second chapter not to long ago.  So while NB is leaving the project I still plan to stick around.  But I'm gonna need an artist for it,  see my talents don't really extend beyond some rough character concepts and I have no idea how to render, nor do I really have the money to invest in such a thing.

So if there are any artists out there that would love to work with me on finishing the project drop me a reply or a message.  If I don't here from anyone within the next month, I'll start looking around for folks who might be interested, I gotta few people in mind.  So yeah that's the gist of what is going on.  Hopefully we can get this ball rolling again.

So it's been a week sense I bought and started playing Fallout 4.  Still having fun with it.  Anyway decided to mess around a bit and see what would our beloved Apocalypse Anne look like in the game that inspired her.  So I fired up the character creator slapped on a CBBE variant mod for the suit (Mainly 2pacs Open vault suit in his cbbe skimpy armor and clothing replacer, you can find it at loverslab and will have a nexus release eventually.) And took some screenies, for everyone to look at.

I'm not actually playing Anne in game, however.  Mainly because Anne is a different character then what Bethesda set up for the female protagonist in the game.   Without really spoiling the current story Anne was a prewar former test pilot, astronaut, and junior executive at an aerospace company.  She never got married, had kids, nor had the desire for either.  To play her otherwise just doesn't feel right.  Well that and she ain't from Boston and no where near it, nor is "Anne" one of the names on the voiced character name list.

And that leads me to one of the minor quibbles about this game, and indeed, Fallout 3 had much of the same problem.  In the Elder Scrolls series of games your characters background was what you made it, it was never brought up in game, and that was fine, it still was your character.  In New Vegas, nothing else was known about your character other then he or she was "the courier" and the game left it up to you to fill in the blanks.

And instead of going with Obsidian's lead, Bethesda decided to fall back to what they did in Fallout 3 and choose your characters background for you.  To me that feels less like my creation and more like I'm just rewriting someone elses story.   The worse part is that in Fallout 3 I actually built some kind of emotional connection to Liam Neeson dad, here I have no real attachment to my characters family.  I kept forgetting the name of the characters husband, and I only remember Shaun's name, cause the game keeps bringing it up in every other dialog.  Hell, I feel more emotional attachment to the family robot, Codsworth, then the damn family.  And as much as I love the concept of protagonist prewar Popsicle, I'm not getting any sense of missing the prewar world from the main character.  Then again I'm still early in the main quest, I'm still running around doing side crap as I make my way to Diamond City.  So maybe they'll be more of a chance of "prewar blues" later on.

Anyway think I'm going to get back to the game.  Enjoy the screenies.

Fallout 4

2 min read
Well it turns out, even though I didn't get fallout 4 directly for Christmas, two target gift cards, a steam sale, and about 8 bucks out of my own wallet later, I'm now playing Fallout 4.

So far settlement building is a bit better then I thought, but then I really haven't constructed any buildings yet, just little things around Sanctuary and the gas station.  However it does seem like the game throws new places to settle awful quickly I've already got 4 places and am out the stuff I need for half of them.

Modifying weapons is insane and somewhat tedious, I'm constantly running out adhesive, which is the thing that EVERY mod seems to need.  And my pipe weapons still feel on the under powered side despite being the most customization and numerous weapons in the game.

Keep running into difficult fights, I'm getting the feeling the game levels with me or something.  Though it could be I'm still getting use to combat in this one after years of playing Fallout 3 and NV, Still, having fun.

Faces look ok, not great, but ok.   But Female bodies are hideous.  Granted Bethesda has never really managed to get people down, though they did do a decent job with Skyrim.  This however feels like a step back even from Skyrim.  Fortunately, there has been a recent conversion of the famous Skyrim CBBE and bodyslide mods to Fallout 4.  Though I was more of a UNP fan, but I'll take anything over the vanilla bodies.

Unfortunately, texture and mesh mods are about all that is viable right now, thanks to Bethesda borking the ability to use .esps in the latest patch.  I'm starting to wonder if they're going to let us use .esps at all.

And that's about it, think I'll get back to it, seeya in the wasteland.

Current events lead to be believe it won't be a Fallout 4 Christmas, but then there is my birthday next month. I can wait.  Course if I don't get it for my Birthday....well, then I'm gonna haveta decide if I want to get it early, or hold out for the Game of the Year edition.  See by then, they'll have the final path will be on the thing and I won't have to worry about mods not working or obsolete mods everytime they patch the game.

So yeah, guess it will be a little while longer.  Swaright, I still have to finish my PC run of New Vegas, and this gives me time.
